Fragmentation: The parent organism breaks into fragments, and each fragment develops into a new individual (e.g., some plants, starfish). Vegetative Propagation: In plants, new individuals arise from vegetative parts like stems, roots, or leaves (e.g., cuttings, tubers). 2. Sexual Reproduction: This typically involves two parents who produce specialized reproductive cells called gametes (sperm and egg). The fusion of these gametes, called fertilization, results in a genetically unique offspring. This process increases genetic diversity within a population. Examples include: Internal Fertilization: Fertilization occurs inside the body of one of the parents (e.g., mammals, birds, reptiles). External Fertilization: Fertilization occurs outside the body, usually in an aquatic environment (e.g., fish, amphibians). Reproduction ensures the continuation of species from one generation to the next.
