This is a set of instructions for creating a PowerPoint presentation. Here's a breakdown of how to approach each activity:
First, ensure you have access to the "Social Media, Development, and Government" resource and open a new PowerPoint presentation. You will need to select one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to base your entire presentation on.
General Requirements:
- Create a 5-slide PowerPoint presentation (excluding the poster, conclusion, and references, which makes it 8 slides in total as per the numbering).
- Turnitin is enabled; ensure your similarity score is less than 35%.
- Do not use AI to generate the poster.
Here are the steps for each slide and additional formatting:
1. Slide 1: Title Slide
- Layout: Use the "Title Slide" layout.
- Title: Type "Social Media and Sustainable Development Goals". Format it as Bold, font size 60, and choose any color.
- Subtitle: Include your name, surname, and student number. Ensure it is centre aligned and choose any color.
- Picture: Insert any picture related to your chosen SDG. Adjust its size for an appropriate fit and centre align it.
2. Slide 2: Overview of the Selected SDG
- Layout: Use the "Title and Content" layout.
- Content:
- Provide a brief explanation of your chosen SDG.
- Explain why this SDG is important globally and/or locally.
3. Slide 3: Key Challenges Addressed by the SDG
- Layout: Use the "Title and Content" layout.
- Content:
- List at least 4 main problems that your chosen SDG aims to solve.
- Use short bullet points for these challenges.
4. Slide 4: Role of Social Media
- Layout: Use the "Two Content" layout.
- Left Pane: Explain how social media supports your chosen SDG.
- Right Pane: Provide specific examples of how social media supports the SDG, such as awareness campaigns, hashtags, storytelling, advocacy, or education. You may include post examples.
5. Slide 5: Social Media Usage Data
- Layout: Use the "Two Content" layout.
- Left Pane: Insert the provided table exactly as it is:
| Social Media Platform | Type of Content Used | Purpose | Usage% |
| :-------------------- | :------------------- | :------ | :----- |
| Instagram | Images & Stories | Awareness | 17% |
| X (Twitter) | Hashtags & Threads | Advocacy | 49% |
| TikTok | Short Videos | Education | 21% |
| Facebook | Facebook | Facebook | 13% |
- Right Pane: Use the "Social Media Platform" and "Usage%" columns from the table to insert a pie chart.
- Narration/Analysis: Provide a short narration/analysis reflecting on the data presented in the table and pie chart.
6. Slide 6: Design a Poster
- Content:
- Create a poster with a clear message or call to action for social media users (e.g., "Join the movement", "Raise awareness", "Take action").
- Include appropriate pictures, captions, and emojis.
- Remember: Do not use AI to generate this poster.
7. Slide 7: Conclusion
- Layout: Use the "Title Slide" layout.
- Content:
- Provide a conclusion statement offering general insights on SDGs and how they can help citizens in Africa or globally.
- Add an image or icon to enhance the presentation's aesthetics.
8. Slide 8: References
- Layout: Use the "Title and Content" layout.
- Content:
- List at least 4 references or sources (websites or social media pages) that you used for your research.
Additional Formatting (Apply to all slides):
- Slide Numbers: Ensure slide numbers are visible on all slides.
- Date: Insert a date that automatically updates.
- Design/Theme: Apply the "Rectrospect" design/theme to all slides.
9. Saving Your Presentation:
- Save your PowerPoint Presentation as StudentNumber_SurnameSDGs (e.g., 343434_GreenSDGs).
- Do not convert to PDF.
Remember to conduct thorough research on your chosen SDG to fulfill the content requirements for each slide.
