SECTION C: SUMMARY WRITING (10 marks)

12) In not more than 120 words, summarize the advantages and disadvantages of owning a television.

Television offers advantages by bringing global events home and aiding children's language development through exposure to standardized pronunciations from newscasters and actors, serving as a valuable learning source. However, it also has significant disadvantages. The advent of television has largely replaced traditional forms of entertainment and information, such as reading books, listening to radio, and going to cinemas, causing substantial losses for these industries. For young children, early exposure to television programs can make it difficult for them to engage with reading books or papers.
