What is Poetry? 2. When did people start Poetry? 3. What do we call "sciences and thoughts in a poem"? 4. Name and explain three kinds of poems.

Poetry is an art form that uses language for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or instead of, its apparent meaning. It often employs rhythm, rhyme, imagery, and figurative language to express emotions, ideas, or stories.

Why?
People started creating poems in ancient times, with some of the earliest known examples dating back over 4,000 years. Poetry originated as a way to tell stories, preserve history, express religious beliefs, and celebrate or mourn events, often as part of oral traditions and rituals.

In a poem, what might be considered "sentences" are called lines, and what might be considered "paragraphs" are called stanzas.

• Lyric poetry expresses personal emotions or feelings, often in a musical way. Examples include sonnets and odes.
• Narrative poetry tells a story, often with a plot, characters, and setting. Epics and ballads are common forms of narrative poetry.
• Free verse poetry does not adhere to a strict meter or rhyme scheme, allowing the poet more freedom in structure and rhythm.

This preference describes the fundamental nature of poetic language and lyricism. It emphasizes that poetry goes beyond mere information transfer, focusing instead on how the careful selection of words creates a specific sensory experience, emotional impact, and musicality through elements like alliteration, assonance, meter, and imagery.
