What is innovation by design? Innovation by design is a deliberate approach to creating new or improved products, services, or processes by systematically applying design thinking principles. It focuses on understanding user needs and creatively solving problems to develop novel and valuable solutions.

Explain the following terms under the design process in relation to creativity and innovation in design:

• a) Define: In the design process, to define means to clearly articulate the problem or challenge that needs to be solved. This stage involves understanding the user, their needs, and the project's scope to set a clear direction for innovation.
• b) Brief: A brief (or design brief) is a document that outlines the objectives, requirements, target audience, and constraints of a design project. It acts as a foundational guide, ensuring all creative efforts are aligned with the project's goals.
• c) Ideate: To ideate is the stage where a wide range of potential solutions to the defined problem are generated. This creative phase encourages brainstorming and exploring many different ideas without judgment, fostering innovation.
