Victims often face displacement, leading to homelessness and severe disruption of their daily lives. The psychological toll is significant, manifesting as trauma, anxiety, and grief over losses. Essential services like clean water, electricity, and transportation are frequently interrupted, exacerbating suffering. In the long term, floods can lead to economic hardship, loss of livelihoods, and increased health risks from waterborne diseases.

5.2 The pros and cons of media reporting related to flood victims.
Media reporting plays a crucial role in raising public awareness about flood disasters and mobilizing essential aid for victims. It can also hold government agencies and other authorities accountable for their disaster preparedness and response efforts. However, a significant con is the potential for sensationalism, which can exploit victims' suffering for increased viewership or readership.
