The Al-Imdaad Foundation is actively assisting victims of the severe flash flooding that struck the greater Durban areas between May 6 and 8. The region received an exceptional 206ml of rainfall in just three days, significantly more than the usual monthly average, attributed to a ridging high-pressure cell. The floods tragically resulted in six fatalities, including a one-year-old infant from uMlazi crushed by a collapsed wall and a five-year-old child from Chatsworth who drowned. Disaster Management Authorities identified 30 affected wards, with Isipingo, uMlazi, Chatsworth, and Cato Crest being among the worst hit. Displaced residents were accommodated in various halls, including Lotus Park Hall, uMlazi Halls, Amoati Hall, Isipingo Beach Hall, Inanda Hall, and St Wendolins Hall. The Al-Imdaad Foundation initiated its relief efforts by distributing 100 mattresses on May 9, followed by an additional 150 blankets and mattresses to specific halls on May 10. On May 11, the Foundation joined eThekwini Mayor Mr. James Nxumalo to visit affected families.
