Welcome back — been a while! Let's pick up where you left off. This document outlines a Grade 11 Common Research Task on the concept of Race or Racism. The research should focus on the following content areas: God's creation of man. An explanation of Race/Racism as a concept, quoting different sources. How racism manifested in Nazi Germany. How racism manifested in South Africa. Mangaliso Robert Sobukwe's concept of one race – the human race. Learners are guided to: 1. Interview three knowledgeable people, including pastors, on Race/Racism based on Biblical creation. 2. Consult different sources to define Race/Racism and ask knowledgeable people their understanding. 3. Investigate how Race/Racism was applied in Nazi Germany (using a textbook). 4. Investigate how Race/Racism was applied in South Africa (interviewing three relevant people). 5. Investigate Sobukwe's understanding of the concept of Race/Racism. The following criteria will be used for mark allocation: 1. Organisation and presentation of the learner portfolio. 2. Drawing a Research Plan. 3. Identifying and accessing relevant sources (textual and human), including at least three relevant people. 4. Developing a questionnaire based on issues I-V from the guidelines. 5. Presenting the findings in a 2-3 page essay, written in the learner's own language, avoiding plagiarism, and structured with an Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. 6.
