Explain kingdom of God according to the theology of John Wesley

According to John Wesley's theology, the Kingdom of God is primarily understood as the reign of God in the hearts of believers. This internal reign is characterized by righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. It is not merely an external, future political state, but a present spiritual reality that transforms individuals and communities.

Wesley emphasized that this kingdom begins on earth as people are converted and sanctified, allowing God's will to be done in their lives. This inner transformation then naturally extends to outward actions, leading to a more just and loving society. The ultimate fulfillment of the Kingdom of God will be in the life to come, but its foundational work is experienced through faith and obedience in this life.
