i) The process that occurred in the cell illustrated in diagram B is plasmolysis.

ii) Plasmolysis is the process where a plant cell loses water by osmosis when placed in a hypertonic solution. Water moves out of the cell, causing the protoplast (cell membrane and its contents) to shrink and pull away from the rigid cell wall.
