What is receptor mediated absorptive

Receptor-mediated endocytosis is a process where cells absorb molecules (like proteins, cholesterol, and some viruses) from outside the cell. It's called "receptor-mediated" because the cell uses specific receptors on its surface to bind to these molecules. Once bound, the cell membrane invaginates (folds inward) around the molecule and its receptor, forming a small sac called a vesicle. This vesicle then pinches off from the membrane and moves into the cell, carrying the molecule with it. This is a highly specific way for cells to take in needed substances.
