Chris Hani, whose full name was Martin Thembisile Hani, was a prominent South African anti-apartheid activist and leader. He was born on June 28, 1942. Hani was married to Limpho Hani and they had three daughters: Neo, Lindiwe, and Nomakhwezi.

Academically, Hani pursued higher education at Rhodes University, where he studied English and Latin, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. His professional life was entirely dedicated to the struggle against apartheid. He became a key figure in the African National Congress (ANC) and its armed wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK), eventually rising to become the Chief of Staff of MK.
