“Whispers of Childhood” BY ELLA MAE VARGAS OLEGARIO DESCRIPTION: My artwork, "Whispers of Childhood," is a piece that truly comes from the heart. I was absolutely captivated by Charles Haigh-Wood's "Story Time," and I just knew I had to recreate it, but with my own personal touch! It was a fun challenge to use only materials we already had at home, making it even more special. I chose this particular painting because it instantly transported me back to my own childhood. You know, those days when simple things felt like the biggest adventures, and just a little bit of imagination could make anything magical? That's exactly what this painting reminds me of – the comfort, the endless imagination, and the pure, unadulterated happiness of being a kid. Through this recreation, I really wanted to show that even though I'm growing up, those precious memories and the wonderful feelings from my childhood aren't just fading away. They're still so incredibly special and meaningful to me, like little whispers that remind me of where I came from. This piece is my way of holding onto that magic forever.
