Four causes of conflict in Ghana are: • Land disputes: Disagreements over ownership, boundaries, and usage of land, particularly in agricultural and mining regions. • Chieftaincy disputes: Succession struggles and power contests among royal families or clans for traditional leadership positions. • Political differences: Tensions and clashes between supporters of rival political parties, especially during election campaigns. • Resource scarcity: Competition over limited resources such as water, fertile land, or mineral wealth, leading to friction between communities. b) Four methods of resolving conflict in society are: • Negotiation: This involves direct communication between the conflicting parties to discuss their differences and find a mutually acceptable solution without the involvement of a third party. • Mediation: A neutral third party facilitates communication and helps the conflicting parties explore options and reach a voluntary agreement. The mediator does not impose a solution. • Arbitration: A neutral third party listens to both sides of the dispute, reviews evidence, and then makes a binding decision to resolve the conflict. The parties agree to accept the arbitrator's decision. • Adjudication (Court System): This method involves referring the dispute to a formal legal system, such as a court, where a judge or jury hears the case and makes a legally binding ruling based on established laws and precedents.
