Social media consists of websites and applications used for interacting, such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter (now X), TikTok, and Snapchat. These platforms enable users to create profiles, post content like photos, videos, and text, and connect with others through likes, shares, comments, and direct messages.

My community is a suburban neighborhood in Lagos, Nigeria, with a population of approximately 5,000 residents, including about 1,500 youths aged 13–25. This area has high smartphone penetration (over 80%) and widespread use of social media, primarily for entertainment, communication, and social networking.

This topic is relevant because social media profoundly influences youth behavior in areas like communication, self-esteem, mental health, and social interactions. Today's youth spend an average of 7 hours daily on social media, leading to issues such as cyberbullying, addiction, exposure to misinformation, and unrealistic body standards, which affect community cohesion and personal development in society.
