The Indian Ocean trade benefited Arabs and Swahilis. Some of the chiefs, Arabs and Swahilis got much more wealth and they established their own empires such as Miambo and Tipliti. • Fair Labor Practices and Wages: Implement and enforce regulations to ensure fair wages and working conditions for all laborers involved in trade-related industries, ensuring that economic gains are shared broadly.
• Invest in Local Infrastructure and Education: Develop infrastructure such as roads, ports, and digital connectivity that benefits all regions, and invest in education and skills training to empower the general population to engage in higher-value economic activities.
• Transparent Trade Policies and Regulations: Ensure that trade agreements and policies are transparent, equitable, and designed to protect local industries and communities from unfair competition or exploitation.
• Community Benefit Sharing Mechanisms: Explore mechanisms where a portion of profits from large-scale trade projects is directly invested back into local communities through social programs, infrastructure, or local development funds.
