This Grade 9 History Project focuses on apartheid's impact and people's responses. It has two main parts. Part One: A written research task For this part, you must choose one apartheid law from the provided list, such as the Group Areas Act or the Bantu Education Act. Research the law's history, the government's powers, and the public's response using textbooks, encyclopaedias, and reliable websites. Your written report must include illustrations with captions. The report should be structured with an Introduction (8-10 lines) stating the chosen law and your reason for selecting it. The Body will consist of three paragraphs. Paragraph 1 should explain when and why the law was passed and implemented. Paragraph 2 should detail what changed after the law was put in place. Paragraph 3 should describe people's attitudes and responses to the law. Finally, the Conclusion should explain why the law is interesting or important to know. Part Two: Oral History task This part requires you to interview one person whose life was directly affected by the chosen law. For Preparation, identify a suitable interviewee and develop 10 interview questions, ranging from easy to in-depth. Submit these questions to your teacher for feedback before conducting the interview. During the interview, be flexible, ask for more details, and take notes. The Output for this task is a short story about the interviewee, focusing on how the law affected them and their response.
