b) Two methods of salt processing in pre-colonial Ghana:

• Solar evaporation: Seawater or lagoon water was collected in shallow pans or depressions and allowed to evaporate under the sun, leaving behind salt crystals.
• Boiling brine: Salt-rich earth or water was collected, and the resulting brine was boiled in pots over fire to accelerate evaporation and extract the salt.

c) Two benefits of salt in pre-colonial Ghana:

• Food preservation: Salt was crucial for preserving perishable foods like fish and meat, allowing them to be stored for longer periods and transported over distances.
• Trade commodity: Salt was a valuable item of trade, exchanged for other goods such as gold, kola nuts, and textiles, contributing significantly to the economy.
