Who is an OCD patient

An OCD patient is an individual diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is a mental health condition characterized by:

• Obsessions: These are recurrent, unwanted, intrusive thoughts, urges, or images that cause significant anxiety or distress. Examples include persistent fears of contamination, aggressive impulses, or a need for symmetry.
• Compulsions: These are repetitive behaviors or mental acts that the person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession or according to rigid rules. The goal is often to reduce anxiety or prevent a feared event, though they are not realistically connected or are clearly excessive. Examples include excessive handwashing, ordering, checking, or counting.

These obsessions and compulsions are time-consuming, cause marked distress, and interfere with a person's daily functioning, social life, or work.
