Kohlberg's theory proposes three levels of moral reasoning, each with two stages:

Some may progress to the post-conventional level, where moral decisions are based on abstract reasoning and universal ethical principles, such as justice and human dignity. However, Kohlberg suggested that not all adults reach this highest level, and moral development can continue throughout the lifespan as individuals encounter new experiences and challenges.
