a)iv. As an emergency nurse, how will you manage a poison intoxication/drug overdose?
As an emergency nurse, I would first ensure the patient's airway, breathing, and circulation (ABCs) are stable. Then, I would attempt to identify the poison and route of exposure. Depending on the poison, I would initiate decontamination (e.g., activated charcoal for ingested poisons, skin washing for dermal exposure) and administer a specific antidote if available. Throughout, I would provide supportive care and monitor vital signs.

b) Liquid poison intoxication.
Liquid poison intoxication carries a significant risk of aspiration into the lungs, which can lead to severe respiratory complications like chemical pneumonitis. If the liquid is corrosive (acid or alkali), it can cause severe burns to the mouth, esophagus, and stomach. Initial management focuses on preventing further absorption and managing immediate life threats, often without inducing vomiting due to aspiration risk.

c) In acid and alkali ingestion, vomiting is NOT recommended. (Give milk to drink). Why?
