Q2 (a) (i) Give the IUPAC nomenclature for H2SO4, CuCl2, CaCO3, Mg(OH)2. (ii) Name the type of bond (Covalent or Ionic) formed between Carbon & oxygen, Copper & oxygen, Hydrogen & sulphur, Calcium & c

Q2

(a) (i) Give the IUPAC nomenclature for the following chemical compounds:
(A) $H_2SO_4$: Sulfuric acid
(B) $CuCl_2$: Copper(II) chloride
(C) $CaCO_3$: Calcium carbonate
(D) $Mg(OH)_2$: Magnesium hydroxide

(a) (ii) Name the type of bond (Covalent or Ionic) formed when there is a reaction between each of the following pairs of elements:
(A) Carbon and oxygen: Covalent bond
(B) Copper and oxygen: Ionic bond
(C) Hydrogen and sulphur: Covalent bond
(D) Calcium and chlorine: Ionic bond

(b) (i) Explain the term breeding as used in habit of production.
Breeding, in the context of agricultural production, refers to the selective mating of plants or animals to produce offspring with desirable traits. This process aims to improve characteristics such as yield, disease resistance, growth rate, or nutritional quality over generations.

(b) (ii) State three factors that should be considered in choosing a site for crop production.

• Soil type and fertility: The soil should be suitable for the intended crop, providing adequate nutrients and good drainage.
• Water availability: Sufficient water, either from rainfall or irrigation, is crucial for crop growth.
• Climate: Temperature, sunlight, and humidity must be appropriate for the specific crop to thrive.

(c) (i) Tabulate two differences between arteries and veins.
