2. Representative Fraction (RF) Scale: This scale is expressed as a ratio or fraction where the numerator is always 1, and the denominator represents the number of units on the ground that correspond to one unit on the map.

   • Example: 1:10,000 means 1 unit on the map represents 10,000 of the same units on the ground.

3. Graphical Scale (or Bar Scale): This scale is represented by a line or bar drawn on the map, divided into segments that show the ground distances. It allows for direct measurement from the map using a ruler and remains accurate even if the map is enlarged or reduced.
