a)

i) A family is a group of individuals related by blood, marriage, adoption, or cohabitation, who typically live together and form a social unit.

ii) Marriage is a legally and socially recognized union, usually between two people, that establishes rights and obligations between them and often their children.

b) Here are four types of families:

• Nuclear Family: This consists of a father, a mother, and their biological or adopted children living together as a single household.
• Extended Family: This type includes the nuclear family along with other relatives such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, often living in the same household or in close proximity.
• Single-Parent Family: This family structure involves one parent raising one or more children, either due to divorce, separation, death of a spouse, or choice.
• Blended Family (or Stepfamily): This is formed when two separate families merge, typically through remarriage, bringing together children from previous relationships.

c) The Cameroon government makes several efforts to protect the rights of children in a family:

• Legal Framework: It has ratified international conventions like the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and enacted national laws such as the Penal Code and the Civil Status Ordinance, which include provisions against child abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
• Institutional Support: The Ministry of Social Affairs and other governmental bodies work to provide social services, support vulnerable families, and intervene in cases of child rights violations.
• Education and Awareness: The government promotes access to education for all children and conducts awareness campaigns to inform parents and communities about children's rights and responsibilities.
• Child Protection Units: Specific units are established to handle cases of child abuse, provide counseling, and ensure the welfare and protection of children within families.
