This document outlines a Grade 12 research task to investigate factors influencing crop production in a local community. The research involves five main steps: 1. Problem Statement: Formulate a specific local farming challenge, justify its relevance, state the purpose of the study, and detail its long-term consequences for the community. 2. Background Research: Identify the name and geographic location of the study area. Provide thorough background on its physical, social, and economic environments, with clear term definitions. 3. Mapping: Create a functional map of the study area, ensuring it has a Title, North Point, Scale, and Key/Legend. 4. Research/Data Collection Methods: Collect qualitative data using at least three methods, including both primary and secondary sources. Primary Sources* include questionnaires/interviews with farmers and extension officers, field observations, and photographs/maps. Secondary Sources* include literature reviews of agricultural reports and textbooks, and internet sources for market prices, pest control, and government subsidies. 5. Analysis and Synthesis of Data into Essay: Analyze the collected data and prepare a report on the findings. This includes discussing: Natural Factors (The Environment)*: How climate, rainfall (droughts/floods), soil fertility, and topography influence crop growth.
