A delta connection (or $\Delta$ connection) is a configuration for three-phase electrical systems where the ends of the three windings or phases are connected to form a closed loop, resembling the Greek letter delta. In this arrangement, the line voltage is equal to the phase voltage, and the line current is $\sqrt{3}$ times the phase current. It is commonly used in transmission and distribution systems, particularly for motor loads, as it provides high starting torque.
